Air Canada to charge $25 fee for checked bags on domestic flights

Air Canada has followed WestJet’s lead, and will begin charging a fee for the first checked bag on domestic flights.

In a release, the airline said it will charge $25 on flights that are booking the lowest economy class Tango fares.

It is effective immediately for travel on or after Nov. 2.

The fee will apply to domestic flights within Canada, and to and from the Caribbean and Mexico.

Air Canada already charges a fee for first checked bag on U.S. transborder routes.
