Autopsy results expected in suspicious death in Mission

New details are expected Monday in the death of a woman in her 40’s, found in Mission over the weekend.

Police were called to an apartment at 208 Holy Cross Lane S.W. Sunday at 12:30 p.m., over reports that a woman was in medical distress.

Duty Inspector Nancy Farmer says they’re still trying to determine if there were multiple 911 calls, or just one.

First responders pronounced her dead at the scene, and a man was taken into custody a short distance away as a person of interest.

“He’s been transported and our homicide unit is currently interviewing him,” Farmer said. “Precautionary, we’ve included our Domestic Conflict Unit as well as our Homicide Team to determine what if any previous experience they’ve had with CPS.”

Investigators believe the two knew each other but are still trying to figure out the extent of their relationship.

The scene is being held for investigators, and they add the case is still in its early stages.

Farmer couldn’t confirm reports of a stabbing happening in the area.

If the woman is murdered, it would be Calgary’s 26th homicide of the year.
