Plan ahead for Canada/U.S. border traffic this weekend

The Canada Border Service Agency is asking those headed to the U.S. for the long weekend to map out their route and to get to those border crossings as early as possible.

Spokesperson Lisa White tells 660News, traffic will be heavy with a real mix of travellers.

“Labour day falls a little earlier this year, so it’s back to school. Summer travellers are still travelling, so we’re definitely expecting higher than normal volumes for summer weekends this coming weekend. And we definitely advise people to plan ahead.”

White says those headed south of the border need to bring along proper documentation, including their passport. On the return home, make sure you’ve got receipts for the goods you’re bringing back.
