Israel to Canada Ambassador hopes ceasefire will lead to end of violence

The Israel Ambassador to Canada says violence is not the way.

Rafael Barak spoke at a Beth Tzedec Synagogue in Calgary’s southwest Tuesday night, providing an update on the hostile situation in Israel, extending his gratitude for support from the Canadian government and Stephen Harper.

Barak tells City News, he’s hopeful a solution will come out of the ceasefire that has been called.

“I hope this will put a full stop to their military operations against us, and some kind of understanding,” he said. “On one hand we will have quiet and tranquility for our citizens, and on the other hand the citizens of Gaza will have a better future. (That) will be the solution that will come up in the next few days.”

Barak met with Alberta Premier Dave Hancock and Opposition Leader Danielle Smith.
