Alberta household debt thousands more than national average

Those who feel they have a heavy debt load are not alone in this province.

A new Bank of Montreal survey claims the average Albertan household is about $50,000 further in debt than the national average.

According to the Globe and Mail, a reliance on the oil and gas sector has many people just a short step away from potentially major financial trouble.

Including mortgages and cars, the average Alberta household carries almost $125,000 in debt — the highest in the country.
