Little League Baseball Canada Tournament in Quebec

The nine day tourney kicks off Friday in Valleyfield, Quebec.

The winning team, out of seven entrants, gets to go to the Little League World Series, August 14th-24th in Williamsport, Pennsylvania.

The Lethbridge Southwest All-Stars represent Alberta after three wins and a run differential of 25 at the provincial tourney in Calgary, just weeks ago.

Manager Don Aos on when his team had an idea they could win the event: “once we got past the semi-final and made it to the final, we knew the team coming up the other side would have to expend a little more pitching than we did.”

Lethbridge takes on South Vancouver, the BC winners, Friday at 1:00 p.m.

Calgary West was the last Alberta team to represent Canada at the Little League World Series back in 2001; they finished with a 1-2 record in Pool D and failed to qualify for the knockout round.

The pacific province has sent Canada’s representative to Williamsport eight out of the last fourteen years.
