Brentwood home where Calgary’s worst mass murder took place now up for sale

It could be a good deal, if you’re willing to live with its past.

The home in Brentwood where five young adults were stabbed to death back in April is up for sale, for nearly $150-thousand less than other properties listed in the area.

However, there is no indication of what happened there in the MLS listing.

A small memorial with pictures and flowers remains under one of the trees in the front yard of the house on Butler Crescent Northwest.

There’s also a realtor to realtor message attached to the listing that reads, “this property is stigmatized. This is the location of the events of April 15th, 2014, where five people lost their lives. Please call me to discuss.”

A neighbour tells 660News, she doesn’t know who will want to buy it.

“Maybe it would be a good idea to demolish it, and build something completely different there,” she said.

Matthew De Grood, who is accused in the murders of Lawrence Hong, Josh Hunter, Kaitlin Perras, Zackariah Rathwell, and Jordan Segura, is still undergoing a psychiatric assessment.

He’ll return to court in late August.
