Wagyu beef now on Canadian shelves

It may be the most expensive beef ever sold in Canada.

Loblaws has now stocked its stores with Wagyu Beef, sold at $59.99 a pound.

Wagyu comes from breeds of Japanese cattle, and is used in the most “quality” steaks around the world.

The National Post reports, the meat’s appeal has to do with its deep marbling of fat, and the myth that Wagyu cows are given beer and massages.

In actuality, Wagyu cattle is raised much the same as Canadian cows.
