Ottawa child can’t use medical cannabis oil according to Health Canada

An Ottawa boy will not be able to take his medicated cannabis oil, but will have to smoke it according to Health Canada.

Six year old Liam suffers Dravet Syndrome, a rare and severe form of epilepsy.

The National Post reports he suffered 67 seizures the day before taking the treatment but didn’t suffer any in the first ten days of use according to his mother.

Health Canada’s new laws taking place April 1, means he can only smoke the cannabis instead of sending it in to be made into oil.

In 2012, the BC Supreme Court ruled people should be able to convert their medical marijuana to oil, but the new laws mean that decision will have to go back to court.
