Young girl bitten on face by family friend’s mastiff

Calgary Animal and Bylaw Services is stressing the importance of properly supervised play-dates between dogs and children.

Wednesday evening, a three-year-old girl was sent to hospital with serious bite wounds after playing with a family friend’s mastiff in a yard in Bridlewood in the southeast.

Animal and Bylaw Services is investigating and could lay charges against the dog’s owner.

The animal has been seized and will undergo a 10-day assessment.

This incident comes after a poodle died when it was attacked by a Bull Terrier on the weekend, and a woman was bitten on the face by an Australian Cattle Dog.
The owners in those cases have turned the pets over. the Bull Terrier owner is facing charges including having unlicensed dogs.
