AB government increasing minimum wage

Minimum wage earners in Alberta will soon be getting a raise.

On September 1st, Alberta’s general minimum wage will increase from $9.95 to $10.20 per hour.

Liquor server minimum wages will rise 15 cents to $9.20.

Provincial officials say they’re boosting rates to keep pace with rising provincial incomes and the cost of living.

Alberta has the lowest percentage of employees earning minimum wage in the country, at just 1.5 per cent.
