Homeless Foundation to build 30 unit affordable housing complex

It may be one of the biggest ventures they’ve undertaken, but officials at the Calgary Homeless Foundation are excited about their latest project.

The not-for-profit has been granted it’s first-ever build permit for a 30 unit complex, in a bid to provide affordable housing in the Beltline.

Spokesperson Louise Gallagher said they’ve been working around the clock, engaging the community and levels of government to address any possible concerns.

“First we have to take down the building that’s there. We’ve been working with the current nine residents to make sure that they’ve got housing, and that we can move them into the appropriate housing, and then we will break ground on April 28th, with an art even on May 3rd,” she said.

The new facility will be located in the 200 block of 15th Avenue Southwest.
