Lessons from Mt. Kilimanjaro

It took just less than a week for a local prairie woman to conquer the over 5800 metre slopes of Mt. Kilimanjaro, but Susanne Heaton now has a lifetime of lessons to share.

The award winning author and founder of Motivated by Nature is sharing her inspiring story with a couple of free talks at Calgary libraries.

She said she hopes to push others to make their dreams happen.

“The importance of taking steps toward making those dreams on our bucket lists come true. That was something that I always wanted to do, was to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro. I created a vision board and low and behold two years later I was climbing,” said Heaton.

She was also able to raise $5,185 to fund operations at the Makuleke Community Library, in a remote area of South Africa.

Heaton will share her story Tuesday at the Signal Hill Library from 7 p.m. to 8:30 and then Friday at the Shawnessy Library from 2 p.m. to 3:30.
