RCMP release composite sketch of UBC sex assault suspect

VANCOUVER (NEWS1130) – Mounties have released a composite sketch of the suspect in a string of sexual assaults on or around the UBC campus.

There have been a total of six sexual assaults on or around campus since the spring.

“We’re as frustrated as anybody else is that this individual has not been identified, but we’re doing everything we possibly can… without getting to the details of the investigation and what our investigative strategies are,” says Sergeant Peter Thiessen.

“We get information from a variety of sources that requires a lot of legwork to follow up to see if there’s viable evidence attached to that information,” he adds, noting they currently have a long list of persons of interest.

The male suspect is described as:

  • Caucasian with a slightly darker or olive skin tone, possibly tanned
  • Mid- to late 20’s or even 30’s
  • Thin build
  • Range of 5’8 to 6’2
  • Longer rounder chin and face with straight nose
  • Broad forehead
  • Short, dark hair

Police believe the same suspect is behind all of the attacks.

A poster is being distributed at classrooms and businesses around the UBC campus, in the hopes of catching the predator.
