Missing woman’s van found near Cochrane, her whereabouts still unknown

RCMP have found a key piece of evidence in a missing persons case dating back to last year.

32 year-old Sara Coates was last seen in the southwest neighbourhood of Stanley Park in August of 2012.

On Tuesday, a resident on the Morley First Nation tipped off police to the location of the woman’s van, about 50 kilometres west of Cochrane.

Sgt. Patricia Neely tells 660News, they don’t believe her disappearance is suspicious.

“Not at this time. We have no indication to believe foul play is involved in her disappearance but obviously our investigation will take us where it goes, but at this point there’s no indication of foul play,” she says.

A search of the area where her van was found has been conducted by RCMP, the Calgary Police Dog Service, Forensic Investigators and tactical units, but Coates’ remains have not been found.
