Last brick is laid in East Village road improvement program

The last brick has been laid at the corner of 7th Avenue and Riverfront Lane, S.E. in the East Village as the road improvement program ends.
The placing of the last of 35,000 square meters of brick marks the end of an aggressive road infrastructure program.
It includes six years of utility work, road servicing, streetscaping and flood proofing.
In a release, Calgary Municipal Land Corporation President and CEO Michael Brown says in ten phases of work and six construction seasons, the company has added permanent art, pedestrian
and cyclist pathways as well as delivering the 4th Street underpass.
In 2007, CMLC started its road infrastructure program along 8th Avenue, S.E., where the lion’s share of current East Village residents live.
