Charges pending after rush hour collision in Balzac

Charges are pending against a driver after a crash during the morning rush hour in Balzac.

It happened as a Dodge was merging into the QEII from Highway 566.

“Unfortunately a driver in behind didn’t notice that and there was a collision as a result,” says RCMP Corporal Darrin Turnbull. “There were no injuries but unfortunately the debris did block two of the southbound lanes.”

Mounties closed part of the highway for at least an hour causing traffic to back-up for several kilometres.

“Apologize for the morning rush hour commute coming in from Airdrie but it’s a little taste of winter, it’s coming and we have to give ourselves a little extra time to get into work,” says Turnbull.

Both cars had extensive damage and had to be towed from the scene.
