Brad Pitt among stars at TIFF ’12 Years a Slave’ world premiere

TORONTO – Brad Pitt ended up attending the Toronto International Film Festival after all.

When the festival recently unveiled its list of expected guests for the annual movie marathon, the “12 Years a Slave” co-star and producer was not mentioned.

But on Friday evening, Pitt walked the red carpet for the world premiere of the film at the Princess of Wales Theatre.

Chiwetel Ejiofor stars in the much-hyped drama as a 19th-century musician kidnapped and sold into slavery in the Deep South.

Pitt plays a Canadian abolitionist in a cast that also includes Michael Fassbender, Paul Giamatti, Alfre Woodard and Benedict Cumberbatch.

Steve McQueen directs the film that’s inspired by a true story.

The Toronto film festival runs through Sept. 15.
