One new charter company wants to prove cheaper airfare is possible in Canada by providing a different way to fly.
It’s called Jump On Flyaways.
Operators find a plane and then start selling seats on their website at a discounted rate.
Here’s the trick: right now they have a one-way Vancouver flight on August 30th.
CEO Roger Jewett says it went on sale around 8 o’clock Wednesday morning and they plan to discount their fares every hour until midnight or until the plane is full.
“We are tired of high air fares and we are looking for ways to bring lower air fares to consumers and the way we’re doing that is we’re making our flights contingent on either selling a certain number of seats or generating a certain amount of revenue before the flight is a go,” he says.
It’s the company’s third-ever flight after two successful trips, one to Kelowna the other to Las Vegas.
So far more than 35,000 people have signed on to their website for information about upcoming trips.
