Mayor Naheed Nenshi made a big announcement late Tuesday afternoon on Calgary’s road to flood recovery.

Nenshi says the south line of the C-Train will open ahead of schedule at the start of service Wednesday morning.

That means the south line will once again connect to the downtown.

The goal was to have it reopened by Stampede.

You may have seen the pictures of how badly the tracks were damaged near the Stampede Station.

In other updates Nenshi says 517 people are in flood reception centres down from the peak of approximately 2000 last week.

He’s also urging you to do your part during this heatwave and conserve energy.

Don’t raft down the Bow or Elbow Rivers, instead cool off at spray parks.

Nenshi also confirms blue cart recycling is suspended until further notice.
