Calgary sets a plan for reducing poverty

Calgary now has renewed hopes for reducing poverty throughout the city.

Approved by City Council today, the Calgary Poverty Reduction Initiative is a long term, community-based approach to reduce and prevent poverty throughout Calgary.

United way’s Lucy Miller says the strategy will put the processes in place to allow everyone access to the unique opportunities our city holds.

The stewardship committee will now develop details on the resources required to implement the plan.

The CPRI is funded by the City and the United Way.
