One dead, another injured following ‘violent incident’ in Huntington Hills

Homicide investigators remained on scene early Saturday morning at a home in the northeast after one man was found dead and another sent to hospital.

Police received reports of gunshots around 4:30 p.m. Friday in the community of Huntington Hills.

Along with the reports of gunshots, police say a man was running through the neighbourhood asking people to call 911.

Officers then swarmed a home and closed off traffic at Hunterhorn Gate and Hunterhorn Crescent.

They found one man with undisclosed injuries, later finding another man dead.

The man in his 20s was taken to hospital is in stable condition.

What police are calling a ‘violent incident’ had the community on high alert, not just for people in their homes, but others trying to get home from work.

But Duty Inspector Steve Ellefson said the area is now secure.

“We definitely had a large area that we were containing at the crime scene for a number of hours last night and certainly appreciated everyone’s cooperation and patience while we conducted our investigation,” he said.

A number of people were taken into custody, but have since been released as the Homicide Unit continues to investigate.
