Two men from Calgary are facing charges after a traffic stop near Picture Butte led to a drug bust.
Constable Grant Ryland with Picture Butte RCMP says they were doing standard traffic stops on Highway 23 around 4:00p.m. Saturday when they came across something unexpected.
“We stopped a vehicle traveling southbound, there was an odour of cannabis-marijuana coming from the vehicle. The vehicle was searched and there was 2.5 kilograms of cannabis found in the vehicle,” explains Ryland.
Ryland adds, the marijuana was packed into a large cardboard box in the back of the SUV.
He says drug finds do happen on occasion as those transporting them try to use side-highways in an attempt to avoid police stops.
