Inn From the Cold needs donations following bed bug attack

A case of bed bugs has a Calgary shelter scrambling for donations.

Staff at ‘Inn From the Cold’ in the southeast, detected the bugs Thursday and quickly began to treat bedding and clothing that may have been exposed.

Executive Director, Linda McLean, says now there’s the issue of finding new clothes for the people staying in the shelter.

“We have to re-outfit them because we can’t have them walking around without basic clothing. That has depleted our stock to the point where we’re concerned any new people coming in the days and weeks to come, that we won’t have enough to help them out,” explains McLean.

McLean adds, they’re looking for socks, underwear, pants and shirts for kids, men, and women as well as bedding for twin and double beds.

Donations can be dropped at the shelter, located at 110 11th Avenue southeast, seven days a week.
