Public - Private partnership struck to get Canadians moving

Federal Health Minister Leona Aglukkaq took the wraps of a new initiative to promote healthy living Wednesday in Calgary.

Ottawa is putting up $750 thousand dollars over the next 18 months to support a program that will allow families to collect Air Mile Rewards , when they register for programs operated by the YMCA.

Aglukkaq says the idea is to make healthy choices the easy choices, and the best way to prevent chronic diseases is by getting people young and old moving.

The program is also being rolled out in Ontario and New Brunswick and if successful will likely be expanded across the country.
