A Calgary teenager has become one of the youngest drivers ever to win a NASCAR race.
16-year-old Cameron Hayley picked up his first NASCAR win Tuesday night, taking the checkered flag in the K & N pro series in the UNOH Battle at the Beach in Daytona.
Family friend and former mentor Mike Wright tells 660News, Cameron is a natural and one of the sport’s future stars.
“He has been named to NASCAR’s ‘next nine’, which are up-and-coming drivers throughout North America and NASCAR is looking for those nine drivers to eventually make it to the pinnacle.”
Cameron is now gearing up for his next race on March 2nd.
