Sex trade in Calgary moving to the web

Prostitution in Calgary is leaving the streets and moving to the web.

Calgary Police say they saw a 25 per cent drop in prostitution calls on the streets in 2012.

Officers say just because it’s out of sight doesn’t mean the problem is shrinking, they’ve also seen a major increase in the number of escort agencies operating online.

Staff Sgt. Rob Rutledge tells The Calgary Sun, it may be becoming even more dangerous for those in the sex trade.

He says, the anonymity of the cyber industry, means workers are more vulnerable and alone.
