Elderly B.C. woman out $10K after fighting bogus DUI

It’s been a nightmare for a senior in B.C. who paid the price for fighting the false accusation she’d been drinking and driving.
Margaret Macdonald was pulled over by Cranbrook RCMP in May of 2011 and asked to give a breath test.
When the 84-year-old’s pneumonia made it difficult for her to give a breath sample, her car was seized, she was issued a $500 fine and was banned from driving for three months.
Even though she was eventually cleared of the offense by B.C.’s attorney general, she’s now stuck with $10-thousand in lawyer bills.
The Calgary Sun reports Macdonald is now in small claims court trying to get back some of the legal fees she shelled out to defend herself.
