Flames hope to torch Oil in season's first Battle of Alberta

Pull out the foam fingers, pull on your red or blue jersey and get excited.

The battle of Alberta is back as the Edmonton Oilers visit the Calgary Flames at the Saddledome this evening for the first time this season.

Sportsnet 960 The Fan’s Pat Steinberg spends most of his working hours talking Flames hockey to both players and fans.

He says the rivalry is really starting to heat up again thanks to a young, exciting talent pool populating the Oilers lineup.

“I think Flames fans are sick of hearing how good the Oilers are and how good they’re going to be, I think the Flames are sick of hearing about it as well.” He says.

Steinberg adds Edmonton players get excited for the battle of Alberta too, pointing out one of the high points for the club was ending a 9-game losing streak to Calgary just last season.

Steinberg is anticipating a rockin’ Saddledome and a very intense match-up.
