Police accused of street racing won’t face consequences

Calgary police officers shown in a YouTube video allegedly street racing won’t see any disciplinary action.

The video, which surfaced earlier this week, showed two marked cop cruisers and one unmarked car waiting at a red light.

One of the cruisers appeared to rev its engine and take off with a shot once the light turned green, before pulling into a Tim Horton’s.

Police say it’s difficult to identify the officers involved, but say it appears the cars did not exceed the speed limit.

Spokesman Kevin Brookwell tells The Calgary Sun the optics looked bad and hopes that, in the future, the officers will set a better example to the public.
