Salmonella cases pop up in Lethbridge area

Lethbridge health officials have a mystery on their hands and suspect poorly handled poultry, possibly turkey, may be to blame for an outbreak of Salmonella.

Several people have fallen ill over the past few weeks in rural areas, including on the Blood Reserve.

Twenty-one cases have been confirmed, but there are also several probable cases.

A number of people have also been hospitalized.

An Alberta Health Services official tells The Calgary Sun while they have pinpointed the source of salmonella, Christmas dinners are often the culprit.
