A single vehicle crash along the Red Mile left a man in his sixties dead early Thursday morning.
Two officers were traveling along 17th Ave. S.W. when they noticed a van run the intersection.
The older model, grey Ford Econoline slammed into a five story office building, causing extensive front end damage.
The driver had to be extricated by fire crews and was pronounced dead at the scene by EMS.
Two of the first officers to respond were taken to hospital as a precaution; traffic sergeant Colin Foster says propane the back of the vehicle was leaking.
The cause of the crash is still under investigation.
It may be several days before autopsy results are released.
The crash closed sections of 17th Ave. and 11th St. for several hours.
