How do you want to celebrate Canada’s 150th birthday?

The Harper government plans to launch a series of public consultations next month.

The issue?

What would you like to see as part of the country’s 150th birthday celebrations in 2017?

Heritage Minister James Moore tells Post Media/The Calgary Herald the national brainstorming sessions will run from January through to next June.

The birthday planning actually began just over a year ago when a federal heritage committee —  consisting of history experts, civic leaders and cultural groups — began hearings.

According to Moore, the goal of the public consulations is to ensure Ottawa understands the different regions of the country and gets input from people who might not otherwise have a voice.
