Park Plus system technology worth $100 million according to lawsuit

Two former employees of the Calgary Parking Authority claim the technology behind the CPA’s Park Plus system is worth $100-million.

The figure is contained in a counter-claim filed by former Managers Dale Fraser and Al Bazar who are seeking the sole rights to the patent for the system as well as $105 million.

The counter lawsuit comes in response to a $42-million claim filed against the two men by the parking authority.

The battle over the technology hinges on the issue of intellectual property, or who owns the rights to the parking payment system, which the parking authority plans to start marketing to other cities starting next year.

The system was first introduced here in Calgary in 2007.
