According to a new survey, two out of every five Canadians have reduced their beef intake following the massive recall at XL Foods.
The internet poll was issued late November, a month after operations resumed at the Brooks plant.
But the Canadian Cattleman’s Association tells The Calgary Herald the true measure of the recall’s impact will come months from now, when beef supply has returned to normal levels.
Brazil-based meat packing giant, JBS, now operates the XL facility; the company says the plant is operating at about 75 per cent of capacity.
