Police are not expected to lay charges in two deadly crashes which snarled the Monday afternoon commute.
Just after 5 p.m. Monday, a woman driving a Dodge Neon blew through a red light and was T-boned by a truck in the intersection of Barlow Trail and Peigan Trail in the southeast.
The 44-year-old woman driving the Neon had to be extricated from the wreckage and later died in hospital.
Speed and alcohol were not factors; the four people in the other vehicle were taken to hospital as a precaution but were uninjured.
A short time later, emergency crews were dispatched to 64th Avenue N.E., just east of Falconridge Boulevard, where a 64-year-old woman had been knocked to the pavement.
EMS rushed her to hospital with head injuries where she later died.
Police again say speed and alcohol were not factors and charges are not anticipated; the woman who was killed was jaywalking at the time.
