Mayor Naheed Nenshi says he’s flooded with gifts no matter what time of year and wants clarification on city councils’ gift policy.

Currently, rules require councilors to report gifts worth more than $100.

Nenshi says the amount should be increased to $200, with outlines of what can be kept and must be donated.

But, not everyone receives gifts; The Calgary Herald reports some aldermen feel the changes are unnecessary.

Council will debate the new policy, which will be presented in February.
