SLAVE LAKE, Alta. – A 38-year-old Calgary man has been found dead in the wreckage of a helicopter that went down in northern Alberta.
    
Slave Lake RCMP say they were notified of an emergency beacon being activated Wednesday around noon.
    
A search was launched by rescue crews from CFB Trenton in Ontario and CFB Cold Lake, along with volunteers from two helicopter companies in the Slave Lake area.
    
The downed helicopter was found in dense bush on a hillside about 12 kilometres southwest of Slave Lake.
    
Crews from Alberta’s Environment and Sustainable Resource Development were able to cut a landing pad into the hillside and rescuers walked to the crash site.
    
There, they found the pilot and lone occupant of the helicopter dead in the wreckage.
