City aldermen are looking to take a page out of Edmonton’s book by charging a tax for infrastructure upgrades in Calgary neighbourhoods.
The special levy would go toward fixing sidewalks, sewers and other neighbourhood features that need upkeep.

Mayor Naheed Nenshi wants to know the status of the city’s infrastructure before they can even consider it.
Nenshi tells The Calgary Sun he wants to know whether Calgary has enough reserves set aside to pay for any costs that may come up before they look for more cash.
