Calgary is the first city in the province to have an MRI for pets.
The CARE Centre Animal Hospital just off Deerfoot and Glenmore Trail in the southeast has added the machine to round out its diagnostic testing.
Centre medical director, Dr. Danny Joffe says just like in human medicine, different technology provides different information.
“So what one thing does well, another doesn’t do as well so now we have the whole gamut where we’ll be able to do advanced imaging of almost any problem,” says Joffe.
The MRI is particularly helpful for neurological and spinal cord issues along with soft tissue injuries or disease.
