Some may see it as just another hockey game at the Saddledome, but in reality, it’s anything but.

At 2 O’clock this afternoon the Calgary Hitmen host the Kootenay Ice in their 18th annual Petro-Canada Teddy Bear Toss.

Over 50 local charities have requested some 20-thousand stuffed toys.

Fans attending this afternoon’s game will try and make that happen by tossing those Teddy bears on the ice when the Hitmen score their first goal against Kootenay.

The Calgary YWCA will benefit by receiving 330 bears which are given to kids who come to the shelter.

As well, Hitmen players themselves will deliver some of the Teddy bears to the Alberta Children’s Hospital Monday.

Since 1999, 192-thousand stuffed toys have been collected for local charities.
