Researchers at Baylor University in Texas have found that constantly checking for messages on your smart phone is comparable to a drug addiction. And the ramifications can be the similiar, including feelings of withdrawal when separated from your iPhone or Blackberry as well as ruining personal relationships.
Dr. James Robert found that young adults can spend up to seven hours a day on their phones.
Previous studies have found that young people, between the ages of 18 and 29, can send an average of 110 texts, receive 113 messages and check their devices 60 times a day.
Dr. Roberts had a couple of other negative conclusions from the studies, including observations that the phones are a sign of materialism as well as a status symbol.
