Three people have now been charged with first degree murder in the death of Ryan Lane.

The mother of Lane’s daughter, 26-year old Sheena Cuthill has been accused, as well as her husband Timothy Rempel and brother-in-law Wilhelm Rempel.

Investigators made the announcement Friday morning from police headquarters, adding they believe the motive was a custody disagreement.

Lane’s parents told media last week, their son had just received visitation rights.

Staff Sgt. Grant Miller says a search of a field northwest of Beiseker lead police to find Lane’s remains.

“It was difficult to determine what exactly we were finding as it went along.” he says.

Although the discovery was made back in June, it took some time before he could be identified by RCMP crime labs.

Sgt. Miller says he’s confident Lane’s daughter is somewhere safe.

Timothy Rempel is known to police on an unrelated matter.

He’s currently in the custody of Alberta Sherrifs and on route to Calgary.
