Closing arguments in the court martial of Major Darryl Watts have wrapped up in Calgary.
A military jury is expected to start deliberating whether Watts will be found guilty of six different charges in connection with a fatal training accident, starting Saturday.
Watts is charged with manslaughter, unlawfully causing bodily harm, breach of duty, and negligent performance of a duty after the 2010 incident that killed Corporal Josh Baker, and injured four others.
The military prosecutor argues Watts was responsible as the platoon commander to lead his men to safety.
Watts’ lawyer, Balfour Der says his client was not trained on the Claymore mine, and urges the panel not to ruin the life of a good soldier.
