A skinned, headless lynx found in a Banff dumpster is puzzling wardens in Banff.

The animal was found a month ago by a resident, and officials think it may have been killed to be made into a rug or a wall mount.

Officials now want the public’s help in finding out more about what happened to the animal.

Warden Terry Willis tells The Calgary Sun if it was caught in provincial lands, it could have been legally trapped, and the only crime would be the way the animal was disposed of.

But Willis says if the animal was killed within national park boundaries, there could be serious consequences for the culprit.
