Calgary’s housing market will see a slight increase in home starts before it levels off in 2013.
According the Canadian mortgage and Housing Corporations annual outlook the rest of the year will see an increase in the total number of homes being built.
Richard Chow with CMHC tells 660News, single homes will increase and multi-family home starts will see a decline.
“A big reason for that is that we are seeing the number of multi-family units under construction have been rising and so as more and more of these units reach completion it will put more upward pressure on inventory,” says Chow.
With that, Chow says new multi-family starts may increase in 2013 but overall the housing starts should stay moderate.
