Stamps fans in Calgary are on “Celebration Alert” – depending, of course, on which team wins the centennial Grey Cup.
But whether the trophy stays in Toronto or gets a royal trip back to Cowtown, Calgary Police aren’t beefing up their manpower in anticipation of any kind of a ruckus, like Vancouver’s infamous Stanley Cup riots.
Duty Inspector Darren Leggatt said Calgary’s reputation as a city with mannerly sports fans precedes itself.
“We don’t anticipate any significant issues in the city – win or lose – knowing that we’ve got very proud, passionate but respectful sports fans,” he said.
He added police Sunday staffing around town remains normal.
