Calgary Mayor Naheed Nenshi isn’t the only Alberta politician in Toronto for the Grey Cup.
Alberta Premier Alison Redford is also in the city supporting the Stampeders.
Like Nenshi’s bets with Toronto Mayor Rob Ford, Redford said she has one of her own with Ontario Premier Dalton McGuinty.
“What Premier McGuinty and I have done is we’ve bet the other premier that the losing team’s premier will donate 100 items of warm clothing, mittens or toques, blankets, to a domestic violence shelter in the opposite city.” she said. “So we’re looking forward to winning that bet.”
Another part of the wager is the traditional jersey swap.
Redford adds the hospitality in the city has been excellent and she’s thrilled with how many Stamps fans are in town for the game.
“I got a tweet from someone and they said this is about celebrating everything great and Canadian today and the spirit’s been fantastic,” she said.
