Today they’ll be firing up a grill, as Mayor Naheed Nenshi goes up against his Toronto counterpart Rob Ford in a Stampede-style pancake flipping contest.

Nenshi says the exercise will probably include a little trash-talking as well.

Our mayor left Friday for the big game, and he had a Stampeders football jersey in hand for Ford to wear at a city council meeting when the Stampeders win.

On top of the embarrassment of wearing another city’s colours, the mayors have agreed to donate their weight in food to their respective food banks in the event of a loss.

The Calgary Herald reports the mayor is taking the trip on a budget.

He’s flying economy and staying with friends.  The total tab will probably be around $1500.

Game time is set for 4:30 Sunday afternoon.
