The answer to better driving on highways and behind snowplows might be with kids and Alberta Transportation is taking their message to the classroom with that in mind.

Members of Alberta Transportation are traveling throughout the province educating grade one and two classes about winter conditions and how to properly follow snowplows on the roads

Oliver Lahey, the Urban Operations Engineer with Alberta Transportation, tells 660News it’s all about awareness.

“Educate the kids so that they’re aware of what the snow plows do and that they’re aware of how their parents should be driving according to winter conditions, that’s the air temperatures and road conditions as well,” says Lahey.

He adds, the kids go home with plenty of materials at the end of the presentation, including what should be in a winter roadside kit.
